Pokhara University was established in 1997 under the PU Act. PU as an autonomous and non-profit institution is funded partly by the Government of Nepal and partly by the income of students and affiliated universities. PU follows the semester system. The University has a practice of continuously evaluating student performance and, subject to regulation of credit requirements, allows the student to progress at a pace commensurate with his or her ability and comfort.
