SSMU is one of the largest medical universities in Kazakhstan with its own hospital and branches in Pavlodar and Ust Kamenogorsk. SSMU was founded in 1953 (opening of the College of General Medicine). In 1953, 320 students were enrolled. Over the years of its existence, graduates of the university have successfully worked throughout Kazakhstan, as well as in the near and far abroad.

SSMU is considered one of the best Universities in Kazakhstan. It was founded in 1952. Originally, the university was called Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute. After more than four decades, the university’s name was changed to SSMU by order of the Committee on Health Services of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The first batch of students was admitted to SSMU Medical School in 1953. Gradually, other colleges were also opened at the university. These colleges include Pediatrics, founded in 1963, Stomatology College in 1991, Pharmaceutical and Prophylactic Medicine College and General Medicine College, founded in 2003. In 1984, SSMU started its undergraduate studies in Pavlodar city. Approximately 1,000 doctors complete their continuing education there every year.
MBBS in Semey State Medical University - Eligibility Criteria
1. Applicants must have passed Exam 12 with a total of 50% in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology if they fall into the general category. 2. If students belong to other categories, they must have passed the Exam of Physics, Chemistry and Biology 12 with an overall mark of 40%. 3. Students must be 17 or older in their respective year of admission. The NEET exam is mandatory for all applicants.
Duration of MBBS at Semey State Medical University
The duration of the MBBS course at SSMU comprises 5 years of coursework and 1 year of internship. The duration of the training is therefore 6 years.
